Time for Spring Cleaning!

This Modern Day Granny Woman has decided it’s time for a little spring cleaning (and a change of address)! Okay, so it’s not spring anymore, but I’ve been itching to tidy up a little here around the old blog ;-) . Not that this blog is really old … it’s just six months old this month. But in the last six months I’ve learned so much!

I started this blog on a lark really … I thought it’d be fun to post a few recipes and few opinions to go along with them. But after writing a few posts I found that I really enjoyed the whole process a lot! And over time I gradually discovered through writing what was important to me … what I really wanted to talk about in the world of real food. And it’s not what I started the blog to write about, Mrs. Dull and southern cooking. While I love Mrs. Dull’s cookbook and southern cooking in general, I’ve mostly been writing about real food in the real world. About the practical difficulties of putting real food on the table. I feel strongly that we would all benefit from cooking like our Grandmother’s did, whether your Grandma was from Alabama, Ohio, Bolivia or Japan. And I feel strongly that everyone’s health will improve by eating mostly traditionally prepared foods. This is what I want to continue to write about. My little blog house with it’s Mrs Dull’s framework of “Southern Cooking” cookbook recipes is feeling a bit claustrophobic. I’m wishing I had built it a bit bigger in the first place!

Also there’s the legal considerations of personality rights and trademarking to consider, neither of which I gave much thought to when I set this up as a personal blog last Christmas. If in the future I decide to offer my own books and/or services my name could be an issue. Basically, I didn’t know that I would come to love the blogging life so much it would become a big part of my life! If I had, I would have thought through some of these future possibilities a little more thoroughly.

So before my baby blog get any bigger I’m changing my name to better match the kinds of posts I like to do! Rest assured not much else will be changing around here. All the changes are pretty much cosmetic. A new name and logo and a few changes to my post categories is all I have in mind. All my old posts will be intact. I plan to continue writing about ways to make doing real food easier and less stressful, and how Granny made it seem effortless. I also plan to share more of my opinions and research about real food ingredients, diets in general and how our choices affect our health.

The change will be coming up in a week or two. I’m concerned that everyone be able to find me at my new address! I will be sending a notice to all subscribers when it takes place so if you’re not signed up for the email list do so now! I expect to slow down my posting schedule to about one post each week plus Scratch Cookin’ Tuesday for a little while, just until I’ve got everything changed over. Then it’s back to my usual schedule :-) .

Thanks so very much to everyone who has encouraged and commented, subscribed and liked over the past six months! I can’t tell you what it’s meant to me :-) . I’m looking forward to continued blogging fun at my new address!
